What is the cost of the Summer School?
This summer, the IoC Summer School at the University of Exeter offers 15 funded places per learning block.. This means that only 15 applicants will be accepted per block and each one of them will receive a bursary that covers tuition fee and accommodation costs.
Who is eligible to apply?
The IoC Summer School is primarily looking for undergraduate and postgraduate students who haven’t had a chance to learn digital skills, statistic and data analytics as part of their study programmes or those who have minimal experience on the handling of data and programming. These characteristics will have priority for the decision of the academic panel. We are expecting that most applications will come from the Social Sciences and Humanities areas, where students have had less exposure to data analytics and coding in the past. However, it is not a requirement to be part of one of these areas to apply as the summer school is open to all university students keen to challenge themselves in learning new digital skills.
How can I apply for a bursary?
There is no need to apply for a bursary as a separate process. This summer all successful applicants will receive one of the 15 bursaries available per block.
What happens after I have applied?
Every application form will be reviewed by an academic panel once the programme advert closes on Sunday 3 June 2018.
After application forms have been reviewed students will be shortlisted and successful candidates will be notified on Friday 15 June 2018. Successful candidates will be requested to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £50 (fifty pounds sterling) per learning block taken.
Once your registration fee has been received we will get back in touch with the details on accommodation and further logistics details.
Places on the summer school cannot be guaranteed if registration fees have not been paid by 1 July 2018.
